Summary
I believe the most valuable assets a person can have is emotional intelligence skills, the ability to grasp the importance of processes, and the desire to learn new things. Take this quote:
"Process, on the other hand, refers to the emotional intelligence skills you have about managing projects, visualizing success, persuading other people of your point of view, dealing with multiple priorities, etc. This stuff is insanely valuable and hard to learn. Unfortunately, it's usually overlooked by headhunters and HR folks, partly because it's hard to accredit or check off in a database"
-- Seth Godin
My resume will not tell you if I care about your project or if I'll just take on any project that comes my way. Because, despite my best efforts, it is just a list of bullet points like every other resume. Instead, get in touch with me and ask me to describe how I am able to get results and how I can improve the results of your business.
However, if you absolutely must look through my bulleted list of life experiences, I included interesting items as sources of my "emotional intelligence". If you want to see what I've done related specifically to my web programming expertise, check out my Web Portfolio and Web Programming pages.
Education
-
BS Film Studies : Ithaca College
August 1997 - May 2001
The film studies program at Ithaca College is where I cut my teeth on both the theory and practice of media. I studied classical photography and cinematography, as well as digital photography and the digital dark room. Later I moved away from classic photography and into multimedia. While I was there I also took classes on screenwriting, economics, mathematics, and computer science. I was also member of the crew team at Ithaca College. Rowing was a great experience that taught discipline and teamwork, but is also a growing brotherhood and sisterhood of great people who have a shared experience.
Professional Experience

Since April of 2009 I have been bootrapping a unique kind of software firm. Our aim is to change the way software is built and used by small businesses. While we're at it, we're also exploring a new way to structure a corporation. Stop by and check us out at www.fireworksproject.com

Regional Manager : Gentle Giant Moving Company, New York City
May 2005 - January 2008
I bootstrapped the regional branch location in New York City for Gentle Giant. The personal growth and development I experienced while working on this project has been invaluable to me. I learned to grasp opportunity, execute on ideas, manage people, keep happy customers, and provide opportunity for everyone under my management. Most of all I learned how important it is to maintain a good quality of life for everyone involved in an entrepreneurial project, even for my self.
-
High School Rowing Coach : Greenwich Water Club, Cos Cob, CT
August 2004 - May 2005
Coaching is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. Someday I'm going to "retire" and just be a coach.
-
Runner & Cyclist : Just for me., Anywhere
March 2002 - present
I ran the Boston Marathon twice, but twice is enough. I did it in 3:35 and 3:45. I've also ridden the 150 mile road ride from Boston to Vermont. I would really like to do that again someday.
-
Mover : Gentle Giant Moving Company, Boston, MA
September 2001 - August 2004
My best guess is that I have moved a little over 2,000 customers for Gentle Giant (I would never do that job for any other organization). I met and interacted with a more diverse collection of individuals than most people will ever get the chance to. The company attracts the best and most interesting customers in the industry and employs amazing people.
-
Fork Truck Operator : Bestway Enterprises, Inc., Cortland, NY
May 1999 - September 2000
Used fork trucks to unload rail cars, sort stacks of lumber, and feed lumber into treatment or kiln drying. Bestway produced 600,000 board feet of treated lumber per day with a skeleton crew. This is where I learned that efficiency pays big dividends.
